Escalating active Coronavirus-COVID19 cases around the country and predominantly in and around Greater Sydney is providing a very fluid situation regarding people who can visit Canberra. The ACT Government has introduced new stay-at-home rules which prevent visitors to Canberra from all Greater Sydney Local Government Areas (LGAs), the Blue Mountains LGA, the Central Coast LGA, and Wollongong and Shellharbour LGAs.
The ACT Government has extended the stay-at-home requirement for anyone who has left the above LGAs on or after 12.01pm on Monday 21 June 2021 to remain in place until at least 11.59pm on Friday, 9th July 2021 or when at least 14 days have passed since they were last in these areas – whichever date is the earlier. Non ACT residents who have been in these LGA’s are not permitted to travel to the ACT without an approved exemption which will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.
The ACT Government COVID website details information on areas of concern in NSW, Queensland, Northern Territory, Victoria and New Zealand, including Close Contact Exposure locations and Casual Contact Exposure locations. Particular rules also apply for those who have been in these exposure locations.
The current information regarding travel into the ACT can be found at the following link: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/updates/covid-19-areas-of-concern
