Entry fee to Cockington Green Gardens on this year’s Canberra Day on Monday, 13th March will be just $5 for all visitors, adults, children (children Under 4 free) and seniors with all entry fees paid on the day going to local charity Raw Potential Canberra.
The Cockington Green Gardens Canberra Day fundraiser is being held in conjunction with the annual Hands Across Canberra Giving Day Appeal on March 8 which supports Canberra’s many charities working in the community and assisting those less fortunate and/or experiencing disadvantage or marginalisation.
Raw Potential Canberra has been operating continuously for more than 35 years after being set up by former ACT Chief Justice, Terry Higgins AM, along with a small group of caring local business people. Raw Potential’s work is with young people aged 12-25 years either homeless or at risk of homelessness, exposed to domestic violence or facing other traumas.
Cockington Green Gardens Director, Mark Sarah said, “We continue to try and support the disadvantaged and less well-off in our community and this has been part of our business model since first opening more than 40 years ago.”
“Since Dollars for Dili we have contributed almost $50,000 to local charities from our Canberra Day activities alone supporting such organizations as Pegasus, Rise Up, Children’s Medical Research Institute, Youth Care Canberra, Canberra City Care and Ronald McDonald House. Despite the difficulties our business has experienced over the past couple of years due to the impacts of COVID19, we are pleased to do what we can to support Hands Across Canberra’s appeal this year which is doing so much to help people in our community who need lots of support,” added Mark.
Autumn is such a lovely time of the year in Canberra and we would encourage lots of locals to take advantage of the special entry deal to get out and enjoy some fresh air, grab a ride on the miniature steam train and enjoy a picnic in the grounds.
Please note: It is advised that entry tickets for the Canberra Day fundraiser can only be purchased at the door and not online through the booking system.
