Presenter, Sally Stanton got a great taste of a wintery blast in Canberra during her visit to film for the well-known Sydney Weekender program, but like a true professional Sally braved the elements to pitch the charms of Cockington Green Gardens and other parts of Canberra to her audience.
Sally got to interview Director of Operations and Grounds, Mark Sarah about the displays and his lifetime involvement in the project started by his parents, Doug and Brenda Sarah over 40 years ago.
Cockington Green Gardens has been opened for 40 years on 3rd November this year and Mark was able to talk about the origins of the display, recent expansions and plans for the future.
Sally visited the workshop to see first-hand the way in which buildings are prepared for the display as well as going behind the scenes to witness the hands-on approach to the garden preparation which gives the display its incredible seasonable colour.
Cockington Green Gardens has been very fortunate to enjoy visits from many well-known programs and celebrity presenters over the years. Sally was a wonderful guest and was certainly very interested in this history of the attraction. We look forward to seeing this segment feature on Sydney Weekender shortly.
